Grantee Organization: State of New Hampshire, Natural Heritage Bureau

Project Type: Natural Resource Surveys

Project Collaborators: UNH Jackson Estuarine Lab, NHDES Coastal Program

Award: $24,995

Project Timeline: April 2026- January 2028 (21 Months)

EMP Action(s) Implemented: 1.3-1, 5.6-7, 5.6-10

Project Description

The Natural Heritage Bureau of the State of New Hampshire maintains a database of rare plants and exemplary natural communities within the state. This grant will allow for this independently-funded Bureau to conduct field surveys within the salt marsh and coastal sand dune systems (Action 5.6-7) within the HSE to update outdated records and record new data in previously unsurveyed areas (Actions 1.3-1, 5.6-10). This new and enhanced data will be invaluable in understanding how the estuary is responding to changing environmental conditions and what vulnerable species exist within these changing landscapes to prioritize locations in the estuary for restoration projects and conservation efforts.
